Dr Richard Isaacson MD is a graduate of the accelerated 6-year B.A./M.D. program at the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Medicine, Dr. Isaacson currently serves as Associate Professor of Clinical Neurology, Vice Chair for Education and Education Director of the McKnight Brain Institute in the Department of Neurology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Neurology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, and his medical internship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, FL. Prior to joining the University of Miami, he served as Director of the Research Unit in Medical Education and Associate Medical Director of the Wien Center for Alzheimer's disease and Memory Disorders at Mount Sinai. Ladan Afifi Ladan Afifi was born and raised in Riverside, California. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Public Health and is currently pursuing a M.S. Degree in Nutrition at Columbia University’s Institute of Human Nutrition. Ladan enjoys working in the field of medical research and healthcare and intends on establishing a lifelong career in the field. Outside of Academia, Ladan’s interests include travel, exercising, spending time with close friends and family, photography, and designing apparel. Danielle Binler Danielle Binler graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Cornell University and a Master of Science in Nutrition from Columbia University. Her primary interests lie in food psychology and the neurological regulation of food intake. She also plans to pursue a career in medicine. Elizabeth Caruso Elizabeth A. Caruso is a project coordinator for Dr. Christopher Ochner at The New York Obesity and Nutrition Research Center, as well as a first-year post-baccalaureate pre-medical student at Columbia University in New York City. Prior to moving to New York City in the fall of 2010, she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The University at Buffalo in western New York. Elizabeth has gained experience in nutrition as a research assistant on a pediatric obesity study at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, as well as interning as a Peer Educator in her undergraduate college’s Wellness Center. Elizabeth intends to apply to medical school in 2012 where she hopes to continue in the field of obesity research and clinical work. Sophia Li Sophia Li is a student in Applied Physiology and Nutrition at Teachers College, Columbia University. She has been a runner since 1994 and has focused on endurance running for most of her career. The former Race Director of The San Francisco Marathon and a coach of various running programs, Sophia has over 15 years of personal experince working with nutrition and athletes. Once she has completed her education, she plans on working with student-athletes and providing nutrition education within the community. |
